St. Catherine's is very pleased to announce the school's 2015 Athletic Hall of Fame Class: 


Inductee: Ivan Lawler '89

Sport: Baseball

SC Claim to Fame:  Hit .459, went 7-2 with an impressive 2.58 earned run average and was named 1989 County Player of the Year for the last Angels team to bring home a state championship.

Today: Lawler is a successful businessman with over 21 years in the automotive industry. He resides in Racine with his wife, Amanda, and daughters Ashley and Sophia.


Inductee: Wagner Lester ’89

Sports: Football and Basketball

SC Claim to Fame: Gained 3,000 combined yards from scrimmage in his junior and senior seasons, earning him Wisconsin High School Player of the Year honors and a football scholarship to the University of Illinois.

Today: Lester works for Stericycle in Sturtevant. He also serves as an Alcohol and Other Drug Abuse (AODA) Counselor in Racine.


Inductee: Dave Pettit ’87

Sports: Football, Basketball and Baseball

SC Claim to Fame: Earned nine varsity letters and concluded his career with a senior campaign in which he was named All County First Team in football, All Metro First Team in baseball and WISAA All Tournament Team in basketball.

Today: Pettit teaches and coaches varsity boys’ basketball at Union Grove High School.  Three times (96-97, 06-07 and 12-13) he’s been named Racine County’s Boys’ Basketball Coach of the Year.  Resides in Sturtevant with his wife, Carrie, and children Frankie (17), Jack (15) and Emmy (11).


Inductee: Cathy Poulson ’61

Sports: Athletic Director and Coach

SC Claim to Fame: Much of the recent success experienced by St. Cat’s female athletic teams can be attributed to Poulson, as she was instrumental in building the foundation for girls’ sports in the 1960s, 70s and 80s.

Today: “P” remains heavily involved at St. Cat’s even in retirement, regularly attending and working school athletic events.


Inductee: Jenny (Scheller) Howard ’00

Sports: Cross Country, Basketball and Soccer

SC Claim to Fame: As a senior led all Racine County basketball players with 15.4 PPG, was named the County Player of the Year and earned All Lakeshore Conference First Team recognition.  Also earned All County First Team soccer honors that year after netting 24 goals and tallying 12 assists.

Today: Lives in Racine with her husband, Dan, a Class of 2006 alum. (Scheller) Howard works for PPG Industries in Oak Creek and is a soccer coach for the Racine United Soccer Club.


Inductee: Marcus West

Sports: Soccer and Basketball

SC Claim to Fame: A four-year starter for varsity soccer (earning All County First Team and All Metro First team honors each season) who scored 115 career goals, and a First Team All State and McDonald’s All American basketball player who earned a scholarship from Northeastern Illinois where he earned Freshman of the Year Honors before transferring to Marquette University.

Today: Marcus is married to Beth West and has two children, Maaliyah West and Justin Robbins. He is employed by Twin Disc.
